Cazals: Interview

CAZALS' DANIEL GALLAGHER TALKS ABOUT BLONDES AND MORE

"I think the future of music is already set in place thanks in part to sites like Myspace, Last FM, Youtube and the millions of blogs."

Cazals are a five men Indie band from London with a tradional line-up. Two guitars, bass, drums and a vocalist make up for the engine rocking their songs - produced by their own bassist, Martin Dubka. But Cazals is not just traditional stuff. They don't hesitate to use drum loops and electronic equipment in their arrangements.

Cazals first full single 'Life Is Boring' (from the 'What Of Our Future' album) was in a Sony Ericsson Walkman campaign this year, which featured the video directed by Bryan Barber of Outkast fame (Hey Ya, Idlewild etc). Life Is Boring is a fan favourite at Cazals' live shows, for its unrelenting syncopated off-beat drum pattern, attacking bass line, dueling guitars, and a catchy chorus telling the tale of the singers escape from the dullness of suburbia.

Electronic madness comes in the form of remixes of their tracks. No surprise since they're signed to Kitsuné - a French electronic music label also home to Digitalism and autoKratz. Other than this being an odd combination, one of the bands guitar players claims DJing is his biggest passion while another member, Daniel Gallagher, is the band's manager. Manager? We dropped Daniel some questions.

You're a British guitar band, managed by its lead guitarist and releasing on a French electronic music label. Sounds like a crazy combination!
