YELLE: LOVE AND FRENCH CHANSONS

"I think there were women into music at the beginning of last century but they were not taken seriously because they were women!"

France always has been strong in Electronic music, but it seems more French acts break internationally today. Do you have a clue why that is? It can't be just the music.

"I don’t know why, but music from France is just popular around the world right now - maybe it's the sound. I think French bands try to do something different. And it’s exotic for people to hear music in the French language with French lyrics. Maybe it will help us to get out of anonymity."

You are from Bretagne. Do you feel coming from that part of France has influenced you musically?

"Ahah - I don’t use traditional instruments right now so I can say no. But of course I grew up in a little town, and I continue to live here with my friends and family and it influences me without doubt!"

Look in the future for the next five years. What do you see?

"I really don't know. I hope to continue making music, tour all around the world, experiment whith new sounds and continue to have fun!"

Who's your favorite 'French Chanson' performer ever?

"Henri Salvador! “Une Chanson Douce” is such a great song."

Thanks Yelle. Good luck in the Liquid Room (Tokyo - Japan)!
