FOEM and Rough Trade Records teamed up to bring you Emiliana Torrini's (Iceland) track "Jungle Drum" for remixing.
This surging, breathless track is taken from Torrini's 2008 album 'Me and Armini' - produced by Dan Carey who also worked with big names such as Kylie Minogue, MIA, Franz Ferdinand and Lilly Allen. 'Me And Armini' is a hugely ambitious and aspirational pop record with Emilana's soaring voice centre stage, bolstered by a rich gamut of musical styles.
The remix contest: Take at least one of Emiliana's provided samples and create maximum two dance remixes with them. The style is up to you, but here's what Rough Trade Records says about it:
'We are looking for remixes which retain the joy and spirit of the original song, but that can translate the same excitement to a dance floor, whether they are close in style to the original or something completely different is up to you'.
Winner gets at least one digital release on Rough Trade Records and there are also 10 CDs from the Rough Trade back catalogue to win plus a limited edition rare 7" single of a song from her first album.
The remix contest runs for three full months from November 1, 2008 to January 31st, 2009.
